Highlights

Overview

Pyrene Summer Camp is much more than a summer camp: it is a transformative experience of coexistence, adventure, and learning in the heart of the Pyrenees. Designed for young people aged 7 to 17, our camp offers a safe and natural environment where participants discover their potential through physical activity, group life, and direct contact with nature.

The activities are designed to foster autonomy, responsibility, creativity, and teamwork. Through adventures such as mountain biking, horseback riding, canyoning, or hiking trips, young people overcome challenges and gain confidence while developing personal and social skills.

One of the great unique aspects of our project is the natural language immersion in English, thanks to the presence of native instructors and real international coexistence. It’s not about attending classes but living in English as a vehicle language during games, meals, and excursions.

At Pyrene Summer Camp, we focus on active and respectful education, guided by a passionate and trained team of instructors with a strong educational vocation. Our goal is not only to entertain but to educate from the heart, in contact with nature, and with values such as respect, effort, sustainability, and simplicity.

This unique and coherent approach is what makes many families trust us year after year.

Schedule

At Pyrene Summer Camp, during a typical day, the young participants wake up at 8:00 AM and start with a group breakfast. After that, there is a brief group meeting to explain the plan for the day. The activities begin with an outdoor adventure activity, such as a hiking route, canyoning, mountain biking, or other nature discovery activities. After lunch, participants can either continue with the activity they were doing before lunch, such as trekking or mountain biking, or take part in a new activity like horse riding or community service, depending on the day’s schedule and the group’s preferences. The activities are designed to keep the participants active and motivated, always adapting them to their level and focusing on respect for nature and teamwork. The afternoon ends with a more relaxed session, such as games or workshops, and in the evening, social or group activities take place, followed by a group dinner. The day ends with some rest.

During a week, activities start on Sunday afternoon with ice-breaker activities and games to encourage interaction between participants. On Monday, the activities begin in full swing, with outings into nature and adventure activities tailored to each age group. Each day is dedicated to a combination of outdoor activities, such as canyoning, hiking routes, cycling, games, and nature activities. The week concludes with a special activity to reflect on the experiences lived, fostering values of teamwork and respect for the environment.

Accommodation & facilities

The Sustainable Pyrene Campsite is located at the base of the Lles de Cerdanya Cross-Country Ski Resort, at an altitude of 1,900 meters. The camp is surrounded by mountain pine forests and deep blue lakes, with peaks reaching up to 3,000 meters, touching the clouds. It lies at the foot of the Tossa Plana de Lles massif, offering stunning views of the Cadí, Tossa d'Alp, Puigmal, and the Cerdanya Valley.

The campsite is 30 minutes (18 km) from Martinet de Cerdanya by car and can be reached from Arànser via a well-maintained paved road. Despite being easily accessible, the base camp is located in a wild and untouched corner of the Cerdanya Valley. All 6 camps are situated within this space, offering a place to meet friends, share experiences, and take on fun challenges.

We stay at Refugi El Fornell, which has a large indoor dining area for rainy or cold days, a professional kitchen, storage areas, and toilets.

We have breakfast, lunch, and dinner outdoors whenever the weather allows. Next to the refuge, we have tables and benches under a gazebo, which also provides artificial lighting for the evenings. 20 meters away, there are 6 tents with 25 beds each, where participants sleep in bunk beds. Clothes are stored in individual boxes, while suitcases, bikes, helmets, and saddles are stored in separate storage spaces.

The tents are illuminated by solar energy, as are the 6 hot water showers. It’s a unique experience to shower in the middle of the forest! The entire campsite is fenced with a wooden barrier to protect it from cows, horses, and deer.
